Our Drama Club is an after school activity. All school rules and policies are still in effect. While we want everyone to have a fun and safe time, keep in mind there is a lot of hard work that goes into putting on a great show!
- After school activities are voluntary and students are expected to behave appropriately. Students are expected to observe all school rules during practices and performances and conduct themselves accordingly. If for any reason a student’s behavior is deemed inappropriate or disrespectful in any way, he / she will be dismissed from the club for the rest of the school year or temporarily suspended from the club.
- Students are not to be wandering around the building waiting for the Drama Club to begin. They should either leave the building and will be let back in through the Auditorium doors at 3, or be with another teacher until Drama Club begins. This is a great time to get that extra help if needed.
- Students will not be allowed to leave the auditorium to go back to their lockers.
- Students missing more than 3 unexcused rehearsals will be dropped from the club.
- Students who earn roles are expected to come to every practice and have their part ready. If for any reason a student does not live up to his/ her obligation, the part will be given to another student. Students need to give early notice of any intended absences from practice and provide an excuse note. However, if too many practices are missed, the part will be given to another student.
- Students are expected to be picked up on time. Pick up is outside the Auditorium doors. If a student is consistently picked up late, they will be asked to drop the club activity until such time that the problem is resolved. If there are specific circumstances, please contact me.
Production Guidelines
Be On Time – Have your script, pencil and/or other supplies ready at the designated start time for rehearsal. Being late is disruptive to all.
Attend Every Rehearsal – Barring illness, you will be expected to attend each rehearsal for which you are scheduled. “Theater is the most difficult “team sport” there is!” It takes the efforts of all to produce a great show.
Pay Attention – If you have down time during rehearsal, please respectfully watch your cast mate’s rehearsals. It’s great to practice being a wonderful audience as well as a wonderful performer, and to show your support for others as well.
Be Respectful – Be respectful of your cast mates, instructors, and the stage/classroom, both in and outside of theater. Disrespect of any kind is not acceptable and will be immediately addressed.
No Cell phones/iPods or other electronic devices –
Everybody’s time is extremely valuable; please give your full attention during rehearsal. Not doing so will require devices to be taken until the end of class.
Be Comfortable – Wear comfortable and appropriate clothing and shoes to all rehearsals. No slippers, socks, flip flops or other items which could cause injury. Not being prepared may prevent your participation in that day’s rehearsal.
“There is no drama in theater” – Questions or problems which need to be addressed with either the producer or director, must be done so before or after rehearsal.
No Touching – If it isn’t yours, please don’t touch it.
Snacks – No Food or Drinks are allowed in the Auditorium. Snack items should be consumed before rehearsal. Only water bottles will be allowed and must be marked with your name. Water bottles will only be allowed on the stage. Trash WILL be disposed of properly.
Forgotten Items – Items left behind will be placed in the lost and found for pick up on the next school day, this includes homework. Electronic devices however will be left in the office with a note.
Finally...
Have Fun - Adhering to these guidelines, ensures a positive and enjoyable time for your cast and crew. We want everyone’s experience in drama to be an extremely fun and memorable time.
